C.S. and Avice McCorkleWhen C.S. and Avice McCorkle began their family business in 1942, they offered a one-stop retail, landscape and growing operation to the developing community around Augusta, Georgia. The post-World War II housing boom would propel that business to its initial leadership in the local market.

The second generation of the McCorkle family business focused the enterprise toward its current configuration. In 1977, a pair of former employees bought the retail operation allowing sons Don and Jack to focus individual responsibility on the landscape and growing operations. At that time, the company relocated the business to the site of the growing operation in Dearing, thirty miles west of Augusta. Don managed the Landscape Division while Jack worked to expand the original five-acre growing operation.

Three of the McCorkle grandchildren have chosen an active role in the family business. In 1997, Don's son, Skeetter assumed the position of CEO while Jack’s son, Chris, was named General Manager of the Luckey’s Bridge and Neal Mill Farms. Skeetter's sister, Beverly, is also an active participant on the McCorkle team.
